Procedures for International ApplicantsThank you for your enquiry about entry to this college. As a college we are committed to accepting, welcoming and supporting students from overseas and therefore we value your enquiry. Please read the following notes carefully as these will help you with your application. 1. Please refer to our prospectus and decide which course or subjects you are interested in studying. a) Complete the Application Form as fully as possible. b) Attach copies of documentation confirming your qualifications (if appropriate). If your first language is not English, please enclose documentation which indicates your ability in the English Language eg – the British Council Test Report. The college requires an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent for entry onto most study programmes. However, some programmes demand a higher level of written English, and a score of 6.0 will be required. c) Return the forms to the Admissions Department at least 3 months before the start of the next academic year (September), allowing time for you to obtain a visa. 2. The college will assess your application and will want to be satisfied that you meet the following criteria. a) You are qualified to undertake the course you are applying for. It is essential for you to get a translation of your grades to GCSE equivalent by contacting: UK NARIC (National Academic Recognition Information Centre) Without this translation we will be unable to process your application. b) Your understanding of the English language is adequate for the course you intend to undertake. If there is any doubt about your ability in English, we will arrange for you to take a simple English test at interview. 3. We like to meet our overseas applicants to discuss their choice of study programme. It would be helpful if you could let us know of any dates when you may be in the UK so that we can arrange a convenient interview date.
After payment of your deposit you will be given an overseas offer letter from the Admissions Department which will enable you to obtain the necessary visa. Please note that at enrolment you will be required to pay the outstanding fees in full for the academic year directly to the Finance Department in room Z1. Should your visa application be unsuccessful, the college will refund £450 (sterling) of your deposit. In order for you to obtain this refund, the college will require evidence of your unsuccessful visa application. This must be sent within 21 days of your visa rejection. Refunds will be made by sterling cheque, Visa or MasterCard within 21 days of receipt of evidence. Please note that you will be required to pay any bank charges incurred. These fees are as follows: a) For overseas students (non EU) attending a full time academic or vocational course the fee is £6,800 (less deposit). Please note fees for the next academic year are yet to be confirmed. b) There is no fee for students from EU countries who are aged under 19 years and have lived in the EEA for the past three years (proof of residency will be required). EU students who have lived in the EEA for the past three years who are 19 or over after 31 August will normally be charged the ‘home student’ rate which for the current year is £1,690 plus examination fees. Information on whether you will pay the home or overseas rate can
