What is the course about?

This practical course aims to develop your expertise in music. You will take part in gigs, as well as an integrated project with Acting and Dance students, performing in different venues. You will learn about music notation and put this into practice while developing your own technique, rehearsing, performing and composing. You will also explore the use of computer software and hardware in music production and performance and will study different styles of music as well as the instruments used within each style. You will go out of college on musical trips! You will be able to take this course with First Diploma (Acting) OR with a GCSE, depending on your GCSE profile and experience. At the end of the course, if you have a Merit or Distinction and appropriate GCSE grades, you may be able to progress on to the National Diploma in Music or Music Technology.

16-19 year olds


Am I qualified to join the course?

Minimum requirements - 4 GCSEs at grade D including English and Music preferred OR Introductory Diploma in appropriate subject and GCSE English at grade D


How will I know I am progressing and how is the course assessed?

100% practical and written coursework


What can the course lead to?

At the end of the course, if you have a Merit or Distinction and appropriate GCSE grades, you may be able to progress to the National Diploma in Performing Arts or employment.
