What is the course about?

This course is designed to provide you with the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding for progression to university or employment in the IT industry. A well developed set of e-skills is fast becoming an essential requirement for a successful career but on this course you will develop all aspects of IT knowledge - hardware and software. The subjects include topics as varied as computer systems, Visual Basic programming, networking and database management systems. There is a practical component to the course as well as the acquisition of high level IT skills. In the second year you will be exposed to project management methodologies and will implement an important IT activity. The skills taught on this course are key to the IT industry but will transfer to any other business. The course is most suitable if you are aspiring to progress in an IT direction. Other than higher education, students can move on to professional certification and specialist programmes.

16-19 year olds.


Am I qualified to join the course?

Minimum requirements – 30 points either from 6 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade C OR at least 15 points made up from 3 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade C plus one First Diploma/Certificate

100% practical and written coursework
