What is the course about?

Have you ever wanted a more in depth and critical understanding of science issues in the news? This stimulating and innovative course develops an informed personal point of view on issues as diverse as global warming, the big bang theory, human cloning, medical ethics and many more. These topics will include many controversial and contentious areas that are examined and debated from technical, economic, historical, social and ethical standpoints. The processes of scientific discovery and the development of new technologies are explored and their effects on society and the environment are analysed. Reading and reviewing popular science books and magazines is an integral part of the course. Non-scientists and scientists alike will enjoy this course.
