Physics is the study of the laws that determine the structure of the universe with reference to the matter/energy of which it consists. This course examines physics through a range of applications such as astronomy and will examine matter from the very smallest fundamental
particles (with quarks and leptons) to the very largest and the extremes of the universe (with black holes and quasars). Studying the AS level would be very useful to support other science subjects such as AS/A2 Chemistry and Geology. AS/A2 Physics is very useful for degree courses in architecture, medicine, dentistry, engineering, electronics as well as
physics degrees and options such as astronomy and acoustics. It is essential to combine AS/A2 Physics with at least one other science or AS/A2 Maths. Please make sure you compare this course with other science courses: Science Applied, Environmental Science and Science in Society.
